Day of the Dead 2: Contagium

The worst zombie movie we have yet seen is without a doubt “ Day of the Dead 2: Contagium”. It actually starts off pretty cool with a cynical slaughter of zombie infected people by the military taking absolute no chance of spreading the virus. Shortly after the opening scene you realize that it is about to turn into a pretty lousy movie with bad dialogue, wooden acting in a storyline which doesn’t seem to ever really capture your interest. Shortly after we watched the movie we realized that it had a imdb score of meager 2.3… no wonder we say. Don’t be fooled by the actually rather cool trailer

Resident Evil

Resident Evil movies are pretty hard to ignore due to the popularity and the fact that the first movie actually is rather cool in several ways. Though Zombie Pandemic will feature zombies close to the depiction of zombies portrayed by Resident Evil (and of course Romeros movies) it will not feature supernatural monsters like R.E. The whole concept of the underground science facility called the nest is pretty cool though and we liked the concept of the greedy cooperation who regard themselves above the law and ignore common ethics conducting experiments with genetic and viral modification for military purposes.

Another heat of zombie movies and more inspiration for the upcomming zombie game

This time the homework consisted of some more recent Romero classics including Dawn of the Dead and Land of the Dead. Both movies are pretty awesome in several ways and comes highly recommandable. Though one can’t point the few corny aspects which are simply part of the genre out – we rather want to celebrate the cool aspects. A part from Dennis Hopper in the role of the bad guy. We particularly liked the idea of how the survivors have to plunder the stores in the unsafe zombie infested zones of the city.

 

Our game producer loved the opening scene of Dawn of the Dead where the once friendly surburbian neighbourhood has turned into a dead zone full a mayhem and gore.
