5 questions to the game producer

This time our game producer had to answer 5 questions from another member in the team.

Q: What kind of zombies are in your in game?
A: The game is largely inspired by the modern conception of the zombie portrayed in George A. Romero’s movies (Land of the Dead and Dawn of the Dead in particular). However references to the apocalyptic epidemic scenarios from more recent films such as British films 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later (2002, 2007) and American blockbuster I Am Legend (2007) are evident too. Thus no voodoo, ghouls, holy water or crosses are represented in the game. However themes related to evacuation, epidemic and apocalyptic zombie outburst, city rioting, civilization crumbling, flesh eating zombie hordes and friends who are bitten and turn into enemies will be dominating.

Q: If you had to pick the one feature you look forward to the most in Zombie Pandemic – which one would it be?

A: I really like the whole idea of what we call “game events”. The concept is quite simple. At different points in the game you get make choices which will affects different aspects of the gameplay. Choices can be as simple as choosing to enter a location from the front door or sneak around and use the back door. The whole concept is that you will be provided a choice in a very open universe which you can help shape.

Q: Can I help promote Zombie Pandemic?
A: Most certainly and we would greatly appreciate any help offered if you like to grow the game! The best thing you can do is mention us to your friends (naturally only those who like these kind of games) and think of us if you are active on forums etc. and simply mention us where it’s relevant. That is for instance if you see a discussion or list of zombie or MMORPG games in general where we aren’t represented.

Q: In a few words – what is the announced “trap building” in the game all about?
It’s a rather simple but cool feature. Your character can learn how to build your own traps which you can deploy and use to capture zombies for experiments or simply killing them. It’s nothing fancy but a cool feature that adds to the whole setup of the storyline.

Q: If you had to pick the one favorite zombie game and zombie movie which would it be?
A: I would have to be politically artsy fartsy correct and pick the original classic “Night of the Living Dead” from 1968. Mostly because of its importance defining a whole genre. As for computer game I would definitely have to say Dead Rising. That game is a blast in so many ways. The open-ended sandbox setup combined with cool cliché and truly psychotic psychos is awesome. I completed it twice on my Xbox 360 but still have around 200 achievements left to complete…. I think they are tough and hope for a Dead Rising 2.

Q: And one final bonus question – what do expect to be your favorite weapon for killing zombies in the game?
A: Favorite weapons? I like turtles and assault rifles. I would have to say that I just can wait to bump the zombies with a frying pan and pacify them temporarily using the stun gun. I would have picked the chainsaw but our lead developer already picked that one!
